Ambassador Korhan Karakoç was born in Ankara in 1966. He graduated from the Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Public Administration in 1988.

Ambassador Karakoç joined the foreign service in 1991. He served in the Permanent Delegation of Turkey to the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe, the Permanent Mission of Turkey to the OSCE (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe), the UN Human Rights Centre in Geneva, the Turkish Embassy in Kiev, the CICA (Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia) in Almaty (as Deputy Executive Director) and the Turkish Embassy in Bucharest.

He also took up duties in different political departments in the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He was promoted to the rank of Ambassador in 2018. Since 15 January 2019, he has been serving as the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the Commonwealth of Australia.
